AUN Programme Officer;

With more universities and study programmes continuously hatching across the ASEAN region, there lies a constant rise of demand for qualified quality assurance (QA) assessors to provide their services to ensure high quality education services of universities in the region. As a part of the large efforts towards cultivating a new generation of quality assessors for programme and institutional assessments, AUN-QA conducted the 15th Assessor Training Workshop for AUN-QA Programme Assessment (Tier 2 Training) on 25 - 31 January 2024 at Mahidol University (MU) (host), Thailand, in parallel to the 373rd AUN-QA Programme Assessment at the university as well. The Training was attended by 40 participants from Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Viet Nam.

The AUN-QA Tier-2 Training provided an opportunity for AUN-QA assessor trainees from across the ASEAN region to build essential skills, knowledge and understanding of their roles in providing quality assurance services in the real-world setting of an AUN-QA Programme Assessment. Through intensive training in the first three days, the trainees engaged in lectures, workshops and role-play sessions to immerse the participants in the simulated roles of both assessors and interviewees in a programme assessment setting. The last three days of the programme then offered the trainees a unique learning experience through direct participation in the 373rd AUN-QA Programme Assessment at Mahidol University, Thailand, as observers.

The trainers for the 15th AUN-QA Tier 2 Assessor Training Workshop included:

1. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Kay Chuan - Lead Coach
2. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eric Wibisono - Coach
3. Prof. Dr. Satria Bijaksana - Coach
4. Prof. Wan Ahmad Kamil Mahmood, PhD - Coach

With the successful conclusion of the 15th AUN-QA Tier 2 Assessor Training Workshop, the alumni of the programmes were expected to have developed comprehensive fundamental skills which can help them conduct quality assurance in the collective efforts of elevating the quality universities and study programmes across the ASEAN region. The work of AUN-QA in training new generations of qualified assessors is non-stopping, the upcoming 16th AUN-QA Tier 2 Assessor Training Workshop will be held soon in May 2024.
