Vietnam National University - Hanoi held a launching ceremony for the Vocational and Higher Education Quality Hub on 5 November 2021. The hub aims to promote quality assurance, quality accreditation, administration & governance, and university ranking & quality benchmarking. This new initiative by VNU Hanoi will provide crucial interlinks between vocational and higher education, between quality improvement and accreditation, and the interlinks among various aspects of universities governance, benchmarking, and international strategies.
Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti - Executive Director of ASEAN University Network (AUN) attended the event. Representatives of Vietnam's ministerial-level agencies include Mr. Pham Vu Quoc Binh - Deputy General Director of the General Department of Vocational Training, Mr. Nguyen Quang Viet - Director of the Department of Vocational Education Accreditation (both from Ministry of Labor – Invalids and Social Affairs); and Mr. Le My Phong - Deputy Director of Quality Management Department (Ministry of Education and Training). From VNU-Hanoi, it’s the participations of Prof. Le Quan, President; Prof. Pham Bao Son, Vice President; Prof. Nguyen Huu Duc, Former Vice President and UPM founder; Prof. Mai Trong Nhuan, Chairman of Quality Assurance Council; Dr. Nghiem Xuan Huy, Director of VNU Institute for Education Quality Assurance; and representatives of leaders of the Office, functional departments of VNU Hanoi.
Appreciating VNU's initiative in establishing The Vocational and Higher Education Quality Hub, Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti - AUN Executive Director affirmed that this platform will support and promote the development of education quality of Vietnam's vocational and higher education system. He emphasized that this is also the focus of AUN in the roadmap to contribute to building ASEAN into a center of high-quality education.
Dr. Nghiem Xuan Huy, Director for the Institute for Education Quality Assurance, operating unit of the Hub, said that VNU-Hanoi has more than 25 years of experience in the field of university governance, quality assurance and accreditation. VNU has a team of highly qualified personnel as well as a network of partners with profound understanding of theory and practice of governance, quality assurance and education accreditation to operate the Hub.
VNU-Hanoi President Le Quan shared, The Vocational and Higher Education Quality Hub aims to create and develop a platform to promote the quality culture of Vocational and Higher Education institutions in Vietnam, specifically:
The Hub focuses on 4 main themes including: Quality Assurance; Quality Accreditation; University Administration and Governance; University Ranking and Quality Benchmarking. The Hub will be implementing main activities such as: research and policy consulting; annual educational evaluation and reports; conference, seminars, workshop, and forum in accordance with main themes; training, improving, and developing human resources in the field; honoring, recognizing and spreading excellent practices in developing quality culture.
