AUN Programme Officer;

AUN Summer Camp 2024 is priming for its launch as the network’s first concurrent short-term exchange programmes for undergraduate students from ASEAN countries. With 9 summer programmes set to happen in 7 ASEAN countries through June-August 2024. This brand new AUN youth initiative aims to promote cross-border exchange and, through subject-specific themes and active learning activities, equip the region’s young generations of talents with a set of essential knowledge and competencies that allow them to thrive in a volatile and ever-shifting future.

With such a variety of learning programmes, themes and destinations for participating talents of ASEAN this year, the AUN Secretariat would like to dedicate the AUN Summer Camp 2024 Introduction Series to introduce our community to each of the distinctive and well-crafted AUN Summer Camp 2024 programmes hosted by premier AUN Member Universities.

We will begin with the series for a deep dive on the AUN Summer Camp programme by the National University of Singapore (NUS): NUS-AUN Summer Programme 2024, one of the 11 host universities for the first AUN-Summer Camp this year. With the theme “Interconnected Communities”, the two-week summer programme on 1-13 July will bring together participating international undergraduate students from the ASEAN region and the Plus Three Countries (China, Japan and South Korea) on a platform which fosters cultural exchange, networking and capacity building.

NUS-AUN Summer Programme 2024 continues the activities of the longstanding Asian Undergraduate Symposium (AUS), a two-week summer programme originally organised by NUS College (NUSC). This programme was initiated in 2015 with support from the Temasek Foundation from 2015-2023 as a part of an international programme organised by NUS University Scholars’ Programme students. The objective of this programme is to build a platform for undergraduates across ASEAN from various disciplines to come together and engage in meaningful academic and intercultural exchange.

This year’s refreshed summer programme continues to deliver active learning experiences for its participants through the I-4 Model (Inspire, Ideate, Intercultural, Implement), which combines Design Thinking and Open Space Technology principles. With the theme “Interconnected Communities”, the NUS-AUN Summer Programme 2024 will bring together participating international undergraduate students from Singapore, the Asian region, with emphasis on ASEAN, on a platform which fosters cultural exchange, networking and capacity building.
