AUN-QA Overview: Beginning 2023 with 3 Programme Assessments in the Philippines and Malaysia

Just as 2022 came to an end and the COVID restrictions were relaxing, it opened up the opportunity for AUN-QA to push forward with continuing on-site visits for programme assessments. Now in 2023, the momentum of the team is carrying on to provide more on-site visits as well as continuing online/remote visits assessments. For the later half of January in 2023, AUN-QA provided online/remote visit assessments for Holy Angel University (HAU) and Central Luzon State University (CLSU) in the Philippines, along with an on-site visit assessment at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). Read further below for more details about the assessments!

314th AUN-QA Programme Assessment at Holy Angel University (HAU)

The 314th AUN-QA Programme Assessment (online/remote site visit) was held at HAU, The Philippines, from 23 - 27 January 2023. Four study programmes were assessed, namely:

  1. Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering
  2. Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering
  3. Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  4. Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
  • HAU is under the Ministry of Commission on Higher Education (CHED)
  • Founded in 1933, HAU is the first Catholic university in the Philippines that was established by the laity. It envisions itself to become a role-model catalyst for countryside development and one of the most influential, best-managed Catholic universities in the Asia-Pacific region. A private, not-for-profit institution, HAU offers accessible quality education that transforms students into persons of conscience, competence, and compassion. The holistic approach of HAU to attain quality and excellence while fostering character formation anchored on the University’s core values has brought forth institutional certifications, which include ISO 9001:2015 and the Philippine Quality Award, and international recognition as a School of Character.

315th AUN-QA Programme Assessment at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM)

The 315th AUN-QA Programme Assessment (online/remote site visit) was held at UTM, Malaysia, from 31 January - 2 February 2023. Three study programmes were assessed, namely:

  1. Bachelor of Science (Industrial Chemistry) with Honours
  2. Bachelor of Science (Human Resource Development) with Honours
  3. Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical - Mechatronics) with Honours
  • UTM is under the Ministry of Education
  • Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) is one of Malaysia's leading national universities.The University's main campus is located in Sunsan, Johor, at the southern tip of Sima, Malaysia, covering an area of 1,177 hectares, with an additional campus (Graduate School, ranked 8th in Asia) in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, covering an area of 38 hectares. The University of Science and Technology plays an important role in leading research in universities around the world. Its disciplines cover the fields of electrical engineering, chemical and natural resources engineering, environmental construction, civil engineering, medical engineering, comprehensive science, management and human resources development, education and so on. In terms of academic exchange, it has cooperated and communicated with more than 50 academic institutions around the world.

316th AUN-QA Programme Assessment at Central Luzon State University (CLSU)

The 316th AUN-QA Programme Assessment and site visit was held at CLSU, The Philippines, from 30 January - 3 February 2023. Three study programmes were assessed, namely:

  1. Bachelor of Science in Biology
  2. Bachelor of Science in Fisheries
  3. Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering
  • CLSU is under the Ministry of Education
  • Founded in 1907, Central Luzon State University is a non-profit public higher-education institution. Officially recognized by the Commission on Higher Education of the Philippines, CLSU offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. CLSU also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, housing, sports facilities, financial aids and/or scholarships, study abroad and exchange programs, online courses and distance learning opportunities, as well as administrative services.
