At the beginning of this year, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) issued Decision No.: 674 /QĐ-BGDĐT to recognise the quality assurance activities of the ASEAN University Network - Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) in Viet Nam. The AUN-QA Secretariat saw the Decision made as an excellent opportunity to arrange an official meeting with five stakeholder organisations and four Quality Assurance (QA) partnered universities in Viet Nam to discuss the prospects of QA direction and to share recent updates on QA development in the ASEAN region.

The five stakeholder organisations are namely:

  • Viet Nam Education Management Agency (VQA), Ministry of Education and Training
  • Viet Nam National University (VNU) Center for Education Accreditation (CEA)
  • Center for Educational Testing and Quality Assessment (CETQA)
  • VNU Institute for Education Quality Assurance (INFEQA)
  • University Performance Metrics (UPM)

And the four AUN-QA Member Universities are namely:

  • Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE)
  • Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH)
  • Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST)
  • Foreign Trade University (FTU)

Ultimately, the AUN-QA Team departed to Viet Nam on a mission to arrange the aforementioned meeting during 17 - 22 July 2022, and was met with tremendous success and positive reception from all the participating stakeholders and member universities.

The mission of the official meetings was not only to delve into the ongoing QA tendencies of the QA member universities in Viet Nam but also to explore new possibilities between AUN-QA and the stakeholder organisations. Accordingly, the AUN-QA team had the honour and opportunity to meet with the Deputy Minister, Rectors, Chancellors, and Directors of participating stakeholder organisations and partnered universities, and engaged in fruitful discussions on the QA trends and accreditation system, with a particular focus on how to further collaborate on the assessment process and quality assurance in Viet Nam.

In upcoming issues of our newsletter, the AUN-QA team would like to share all the insight and experience collected from face-to-face discussions with our honourable participants from the destinations organisations here in series. Stay tuned to find out more about AUN-QA’s journey in Viet Nam!
