AUS-AUN Engagement: Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti as the Keynote Speaker at the Deputy Vice-Chancellors (International) Committee (DVCI) Meeting

Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti, Executive Director of the ASEAN University Network (AUN), delivered a keynote presentation at the Deputy Vice-Chancellors (International) Committee (DVCI) meeting during the Universities Australia Solutions Summit 2024. The event, which took place on 29 February, provided a platform for high-level discussions on international education collaboration and partnerships, attended by 30 Deputy Vice-Chancellors of DVCI. 

The DVCI Committee, an integral part of Universities Australia (UA), plays a pivotal role in advising UA's strategic direction and policy positions. Their recent meeting highlighted the importance of fostering partnerships with ASEAN countries, prompting the inclusion of an ASEAN session at the summit.

During the session, Dr. Choltis shed light on AUN's mission, structure and its ongoing efforts to expand international collaborations for ASEAN higher education. With expertise in driving priority areas such as ASEAN mobility, international partnerships, and English Language Teaching (ELT) capability building, Dr. Choltis provided valuable insights into enhancing educational exchanges and cooperation within the ASEAN region. Dr. Choltis's participation enriched the dialogue and contributed to the development of strategic approaches for enhancing educational cooperation between Australia and ASEAN.

Following Dr. Choltis's presentation, Mr. Nicholas Moore AO, Special Envoy for Southeast Asia, emphasized the importance of strengthening economic ties with Southeast Asia, as outlined in his report titled “Invested: Australia's Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040”. The presentation offered insights into Australia's efforts to drive ASEAN mobility and international partnerships, highlighting education and skills priorities within the Southeast Asia Economic Strategy. Deputy Vice-Chancellors from leading Australian universities engaged in discussions, exchanging thoughts on overcoming current challenges and enhancing collaboration to strengthen ties between Australia and ASEAN.
