AUN Programme Officer;

University Performance Metrics, or UPM, is a rating system for higher education institutions initiated by researchers from Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the development of which was funded by the Vietnam Ministry of Higher Education and Training.

The UPM system provides a university benchmarking framework that evaluates Third Generation Universities and how well they have adapted to the Fourth Industrial Revolution  which not only complies with traditional ranking and rating approaches but also  incorporates contemporary elements including Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Digital Transformation, Student Mobility and Ethical Value. It evaluates university performances though 54 indicators across 8 categories in research and applied orientation. The system primarily serves to allow regional universities to benchmark against top Asian institutions as well as a way for universities to have access to the Vietnamese education market.

Over twenty universities in Vietnam and the ASEAN region have already expressed their interest in the UPM system and will participate in a conference on University Performance Metrics facilitated by VNU-Hanoi and the AUN Secretariat on 18 August 2020.
