One of AUN/SEED-Net REd-UC consortiums, TransBio, recently dispatched a delegation consisting of two representatives from Thailand to Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) in Nairobi, Kenya, during October 4-6, 2023. Their mission was to participate in the annual Sustainable Research and Innovation Conference (SRI), share valuable knowledge, and establish connections with the researchers at JKUAT.

Furthermore, this visit held critical importance as the team aimed to engage in constructive discussions with key management stakeholders, including the Principal of the College of Engineering and Technology, who play a pivotal role in supporting their initiative concerning the demonstration of biodiesel fuel blends for transportation within the JKUAT campus.

The meeting yielded fruitful outcomes, characterized by positive and promising responses from all stakeholders involved. The delegates concluded their visit with an informative tour of the bus depot and other relevant facilities, further enhancing their understanding of the campus's infrastructure and transportation systems.

It is important to note that biodiesel research in Kenya is still in its early stages and has not yet reached commercialization. If this initiative proves successful, it has the potential to attract significant attention from government authorities, as well as the public and private sectors. This, in turn, could serve as a catalyst for biodiesel production in Kenya and its nationwide implementation.
