From January 28 to 31, 2024, members of the REd-UC TransBio consortium (Transregional biofuels collaboration for sustainable transportation) travelled to Indonesia for insightful discussions on the future of biofuels in transportation. The trip kicked off with a meeting with the Bioenergy Directorate under the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, where topics ranged from biofuels policy to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). In this occasion, the TransBio consortium, led by Prof. Apanee Luengnaruemitchai from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, had the opportunity to present its initiatives to the Bioenergy Directorate, showcasing its commitment to driving innovation in biofuel technologies.

The following day, the team met with PT Pertamina, a leading Indonesian oil company, to exchange knowledge and learn about the production of green biodiesel and SAF. These discussions highlighted the shared vision for sustainable energy solutions.

In between meetings, the team immersed themselves in Indonesia's diverse transportation landscape, experiencing everything from traditional modes to the cutting-edge high-speed train journey from Jakarta to Bandung.

With tremendous support from Dr. Adhika Widyaparaga, a valuable consortium member from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia, this trip to Indonesia was undeniably beneficial and impactful, yielding newfound insights and forging valuable partnerships. Additionally, AUN/SEED-Net would like to express sincere appreciation to all members from Kenya, Thailand, and Vietnam for their enthusiastic and active participation throughout the journey.

This trip concludes the consortium's activities for the current Japanese Fiscal Year. AUN/SEED-Net eagerly looks forward to witnessing and participating in more events in the upcoming year.
