An Enriching New Year for ASEAN Young Talents: Announcing AUN Youth Activities 2024 Line Up

After bidding its festive goodbye to another fruitful year of 2023, AUN is actively working with the network’s premier Member Universities as well as external partners to make 2024 a year full of youth platforms and activities for different groups and cahoots of ASEAN university students and talents. This year, several of AUN Flagship Youth Activities make their grand return while the brand-new, ASEAN-first AUN Summer Camp aims to bolster the cross-borderly interregional cultivation of future-ready and ASEAN-rooted young talents.

AUN-HPN’s 8th International Advisory Committee Shared Best Practices and Acknowledged Growing Mental Health Concerns

Staying healthy is critical to living a good life, but it has become increasingly difficult to do so in this current age of technology-enhanced convenience, physical inactivity, unhealthy diet, and other related habits. Following the pandemic, the world has also seen the rise of mental health issues caused by the limited social interaction due to prolonged isolation. At the ASEAN University Network Health Promotion Network (AUN-HPN) 8th International Advisory Committee (IAC) meeting, the network’s member universities gather once again to address these pressing health issues in society and share their best practices in health promotion mission.

"Management and Strategy: How AUN-HPN Became a Driving Force for Regional Health Promotion" Has Officially Launched

Since its establishment in 2014, ASEAN University Network Health Promotion Network (AUN-HPN) has been actively contributing to university health promotion across the ASEAN region. In this connection, the book "Management and Strategy: How AUN-HPN Became a Driving Force for Regional Health Promotion" has been published by the AUN Secretariat team in coordination with AUN-HPN to observe and catalogue the good practices in managing the thematic network of universities. To do so, this book focuses on the work and perspectives of AUN-HPN’s past and current thought leaders as well as the observation of AUN-HPN flagship activities.

AUN-ICT Workshop Returned for Deepened Discussion on Quality Standardisation of University's ICT System and Management

Prince of Songkla University (PSU), in collaboration with the Institute of Software Engineering and Quality Management (ISEM) and ASEAN University Network (AUN), co-hosted the workshop on the Quality Standardization of University's ICT System and Management (AUN-ICT) On 7-8 November 2023 in Bangkok. Set to continue with the work resulting from its first iteration, this workshop delved further into detail of what can ensure the success of AUN-ICT development and implementation as a world-class, comprehensive and multifaceted standardisation framework tailored specifically for universities.

The AUN-QA IQA Redesign Taskforce Team Assembled to Set the Path Forward for ASEAN IQA

Following the success of the Internal Quality Assurance System Design and Development Workshop in March 2023, Viet Nam, the AUN-QA IQA Redesign Taskforce was established and recently conducted its first meeting on 20 - 21 October 2023 in Bangkok. Through the intensive discussion on existing Viet Nam and Cambodia IQA frameworks and the root-cause analysis of the workshop in Viet Nam, the outcome of this meeting will pave the way for the future of ASEAN IQA and the task force will be at the forefront!

This annual meeting serves as an opportunity for the members of AUN’s Board of Trustees to be updated on the latest activities of AUN, discuss its direction, and set a vision for its future. This year, the members of our Board of Trustees were up for a long list!

Curtin University’s Visit Opened New Doors for Network-Level Collaboration in Key Priority Areas

On 5 April 2024, the AUN Secretariat was honoured by Curtin University, Australia for a visit which saw fruitful discussions on potential collaboration in mutual priority areas including entrepreneurship, innovation, talent development, mobility programmes, and more. The visit underscored the importance of Australia-ASEAN partnership.

AUS-AUN Engagement: AI for Curriculum Design and Delivery with OpenLearning

In a meeting with Mr. Adam Brimo, CEO of OpenLearning, a Sydney-based online learning platform on 26 February 2024, the AUN Secretariat explored yet another area of cooperation between AUN and prospective Australian Partners. This meeting focused particularly on the potential of artificial intelligence to provide assistance to educators in higher education across the globe in terms of curriculum design, evaluation, and assessment.

Further Steps Taken in the AUN-QA IQA Model Revision

The AUN-QA Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) Redesign Working Group met once more on 23 - 24 March 2024 to continue their progress in the critical initiative to design a new IQA Model for AUN-QA. The second meeting of the Working Group served as a vital part in the progress towards refining the components for the AUN-QA IQA model, bringing it a considerable step closer towards a solid model that will undergo review from AUN-QA council members, and advisors, and technical experts.

Fighting an Invisible War, Mental Well-being: The 2nd Thai University Network for Health Promotion Network National Academic Conference

The Thai Healthy University for Health Promotion Network (TUN-HPN) has seen tremendous growth in the past year. On 21 - 22 March 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand, ASEAN University Network - Health Promotion Network (AUN-HPN) conducted its second TUN-HPN National Academic Conference, welcoming over 220 participants comprising lecturers, university staff, and medical practitioners. This year’s conference was themed “Building a Culture of Health Promotion: Fostering Mental Health Awareness and Support on Campus”, focusing primarily on the mental well-being of students and staff in Thai society.

Incubating ASEAN’s ‘Green Skills’: AUN-BE and GRI Kicked-Off New Learning Series on Sustainability and Sustainability Reporting

As businesses gradually eye sustainability as its goals, the demand is growing for young professionals equipped with ‘green skills’ who could contribute to business’ sustainability efforts. To achieve this goal, AUN-BE has partnered with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) in launching a new Learning Series on Sustainability and Sustainability Reporting, a series of webinar where ASEAN universities can meet with industry experts to strengthen university-based sustainability reporting knowledge and deliver competitive learning modules that shall bring forth a new generation of ASEAN sustainability professionals.

AUN-QA Overview: 378th, 379th, and 380th Programme Assessment

March has been another successful month for AUN-QA Programme Assessments (PA), with this week’s Overview covering 3 more assessments with a total of 10 programmes assessed. For the last two weeks of March, the AUN-QA team provided PAs to University of the Philippines at the 378th PA, Foreign Trade University at the 379th PA, and King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok at the 380th PA.
