AUN-QA began the month of October with three quality assurance services to ASEAN higher education in the 297th, 298th, and 299th AUN-QA Programme Assessments, respectively, at Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA), Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung (UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung), and Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Kalijaga (UIN Sunan Kalijaga).

The 13th AUN Rectors’ Meeting was conducted in Vientiane, Lao PDR, hosted by National University of Laos and co-hosted by the AUN Secretariat. In this year’s Meeting, eleven Presidents, Rectors, Vice Chancellors, and more than fifty representatives from twenty-eight AUN Member Universities across ten ASEAN Countries participated in the Meeting, which was held under the encompassing theme “University Excellence and the Next Frontiers of ASEAN Higher Education: How AUN Member Universities Think, Lead, and Manage”.

September rounded up with AUN-QA having provided two more quality assurance services to ASEAN higher education in the 295th and 296th AUN-QA Programme Assessments, respectively, at Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) and Far Eastern University (FEU).

On 14 - 16 September 2022, Burapha University hosted the 3rd ASEAN University Network-ASEAN Youth Cultural Forum: Thailand Chapter (AUN-AYCF: Thailand Chapter) to promote the ASEAN identity, cultures and showcased the talents of Thai youths, as well as the performance for the upcoming international AYCF in Indonesia. Behind the immense success of this project lies the commitment and passion of students, alumni, and professors to pass on the legacy of Thai culture to the future generation and to share the cultures of ASEAN countries with a wider community of Thailand.

The ASEAN University Network on Ecological Education and Culture (AUN-EEC), together with Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) and the University of the Philippine Diliman (UPD), spearheaded an AUN-EEC annual conference via Zoom. The conference entitled “Ecological Education and Culture: Looking Back, Looking Forward” transpired from September 14 to 15, 2022. The conference intended to bring together experts from all over ASEAN universities to elucidate discourses on sustainable practices, ecological education, and youth advocacy on climate justice toward the ‘new normal’.

The 2nd Focus Group Meeting of AUN/SEED-Net Transitional Plan took place last month on 18 August. The meeting was to inform the concrete transitional plan after reaching a consensus among concerned parties. In the on-going process of Phase 4 of the AUN/SEED-Net project, there are 7 active programs and achievements, all of which respond to the objectives of this 5 year period. The objective of the 2nd Focus Group Meeting was to collect opinions from AUN Member Universities regarding the programs that will be implemented during years of the transitional period throughout 2023 to 2026.
