Continuing Strong in the Tide of Change: AUN’s Success Recapped in the 38th AUN-BOT Meeting

The 38th ASEAN University Network Board of Trustees (AUB-BOT) Meeting concluded with an astounding success on 6 July 2023, with gracious hosting from Universiti Malaya. This annual meeting serves as an opportunity for the members of AUN’s Board of Trustees to be updated on the latest activities of AUN, discuss its direction, and set a vision for its future. This year, the members of our Board of Trustees were up for a long list!

Navigate the Changing Tide of Global Higher Education in the 14th AUN Rectors’ Meeting

Change is fast approaching on all fronts, but ASEAN universities are ready to take on it. In the 14th AUN Rectors’ Meeting held on 5 July 2023, with the gracious hosting of Universiti Malaya, leaders from AUN Universities demonstrated how ASEAN higher education can navigate the changing tide of global higher education. The ASEAN+3 Youth Cultural Forum Made a Grand Return From the Pandemic Hiatus

The wait is finally over! After the COVID Pandemic shook the world, the ASEAN+3 Youth Cultural Forum has been on hiatus for 3 years. But no more, the 18th ASEAN and 8th ASEAN+3 Youth Cultural Forum just recently made a grand return on 14 - 19 May, 2023 in Jakarta, Universitas Indonesia where 132 delegates from 9 ASEAN+3 countries were able to partake in this spectacular cultural event!

The Astounding Success of The First CALOHEA National Meeting at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember

The CALOHEA Project has taken a major leap towards its goal of enhancing mobility and internationalization in Universities in Asia with the first National Meeting on 2 -3 March, 2023, at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Indonesia. This two-day event of knowledge sharing, open discussion, and a workshop is another step towards bringing Higher Education in SEA into a common space and enhancing mobility between SEA countries and even to other regions by implementing the 3 Core Recognition Mechanisms (RM3) into SEA Universities.

13th AUN Rectors’ Meeting and 37th AUN-BOT Meeting successfully held in Vientiane, Lao PDR

The 37th ASEAN University Network Board of Trustees Meeting and the 13th ASEAN University Network Rectors’ Meeting, hosted by the National University of Laos and co-hosted by AUN Secretariat, were held on 27 - 28 September 2022 in Vientiane, Laos PDR. During the 13th AUN Rectors’ Meeting, 11 Presidents, Rectors, Vice Chancellors, and more than 50 representatives from 28 AUN Member Universities across 10 ASEAN Countries participated in the Meeting to discuss and share their good practices, analyses, initiatives, and recommendations on AUN-related projects, programs, and activities.

AUN-QA’s Official Meetings in Viet Nam Series #1: Ministry of Education and Training

On the morning of 20 July 2022, the official meeting was held between the AUN-QA team led by Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti, the Executive Director of the AUN, and the guest of honour – Assoc. Prof. Hoang Minh Son, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education and Training, alongside the representatives from Higher Education Department and Viet Nam Education Management Agency (VQA) under the Ministry.

AUN-QA’s meetings with stakeholders: Exploring current QA prospects in Viet Nam

As the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) issued the Decision on recognising quality assurance activities of the AUN-QA in Vietnam, the AUN-QA has taken the opportunity to organise official on-site meetings with stakeholder organisations and partnered universities in Vietnam during 17 - 22 July 2022. The objective of this visit was to discuss the prospects of QA direction, share recent updates on QA development in the ASEAN region, and discuss further on possible collaboration in Viet Nam.

New AUN-QA Associate Member Introduction: Cagayan State University

The 270th AUN-QA Programme Assessment took place on June 20 - 24, 2022, at the Cagayan State University (CSU), one of the premier higher learning institutions in Region II and the only state university in the province of Cagayan. AUN-QA was thrilled to conclude the sessions with the welcoming of Cagayan State University as one of the newest Associate Members.

AUN-QA Overview: 245th, 282nd & 283rd AUN-QA Programme Assessments

In early July 2022, AUN-QA embarked on a new chapter of providing quality assurance services to three prestigious ASEAN universities in the 273rd, 274th & 275th AUN-QA Programme Assessments respectively at the University of Santo Tomas (UST), Nong Lam University (NLU) and Prince of Songkla University (PSU).

The third and last destination of the AUN-QA Courtesy Visit was Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) on June 2, 2022. UMM discussed with the AUN-QA Secretariat team on the benefits and challenges of programme assessments and the prospect of promoting future AUN events.

AUN-QA Courtesy Visit to Indonesia Series #2: UBAYA

The second edition of the AUN-QA Courtesy Visit to Indonesia Series will take us back to our experience visiting Universitas Surabaya (UBAYA) on May 31, 2022. With the university having continued its collaboration with AUN-QA in programme assessments since 2019, this milestone onsite visit to UBAYA served as a great opportunity for the AUN-QA team to discuss with the university on matters including feedback on quality assurance processes and both parties’ future operations in the post-pandemic era.

AUN-QA Courtesy Visit to Indonesia Series #1: Universitas Gadjah Mada

In the first edition of the AUN-QA Courtesy Visit to Indonesia Series, the AUN-QA team embarked on its journey to Indonesia by first visiting Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), one of the largest and oldest higher education institutions in Indonesia. UGM has been partnered with AUN-QA for many years, and the visit was to celebrate the longstanding partnerships and collaborations. The AUN-QA team was also given the opportunity to discuss future plans with UGM, receive feedback about the assessment programme, and inform UGM about notable upcoming AUN events.
