The ASEAN+3 Youth Cultural Forum Made a Grand Return From the Pandemic Hiatus

The wait is finally over! After the COVID Pandemic shook the world, the ASEAN+3 Youth Cultural Forum has been on hiatus for 3 years. But no more, the 18th ASEAN and 8th ASEAN+3 Youth Cultural Forum just recently made a grand return on 14 - 19 May, 2023 in Jakarta, Universitas Indonesia where 132 delegates from 9 ASEAN+3 countries were able to partake in this spectacular cultural event!

The Astounding Success of The First CALOHEA National Meeting at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember

The CALOHEA Project has taken a major leap towards its goal of enhancing mobility and internationalization in Universities in Asia with the first National Meeting on 2 -3 March, 2023, at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Indonesia. This two-day event of knowledge sharing, open discussion, and a workshop is another step towards bringing Higher Education in SEA into a common space and enhancing mobility between SEA countries and even to other regions by implementing the 3 Core Recognition Mechanisms (RM3) into SEA Universities.

Special AUN-QA Feature: The AUN Executive Director Announces Line-up for 2023 at the 311th AUN-QA PA at Ton Duc Thang University

AUN Secretariat Executive Director, Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti, announced key projects for AUN at the 311th AUN-QA Programme Assessment at Ton Duc Thang University. 2023 will be an exciting year for AUN and ASEAN Higher Education as the wheels once again start turning in full motion after the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and shifting up another gear with plenty of high impact projects lined up throughout the year.

13th AUN Rectors’ Meeting and 37th AUN-BOT Meeting successfully held in Vientiane, Lao PDR

The 37th ASEAN University Network Board of Trustees Meeting and the 13th ASEAN University Network Rectors’ Meeting, hosted by the National University of Laos and co-hosted by AUN Secretariat, were held on 27 - 28 September 2022 in Vientiane, Laos PDR. During the 13th AUN Rectors’ Meeting, 11 Presidents, Rectors, Vice Chancellors, and more than 50 representatives from 28 AUN Member Universities across 10 ASEAN Countries participated in the Meeting to discuss and share their good practices, analyses, initiatives, and recommendations on AUN-related projects, programs, and activities.

AUN-QA’s Official Meetings in Viet Nam Series #1: Ministry of Education and Training

On the morning of 20 July 2022, the official meeting was held between the AUN-QA team led by Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti, the Executive Director of the AUN, and the guest of honour – Assoc. Prof. Hoang Minh Son, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education and Training, alongside the representatives from Higher Education Department and Viet Nam Education Management Agency (VQA) under the Ministry.

AUN-QA’s meetings with stakeholders: Exploring current QA prospects in Viet Nam

As the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) issued the Decision on recognising quality assurance activities of the AUN-QA in Vietnam, the AUN-QA has taken the opportunity to organise official on-site meetings with stakeholder organisations and partnered universities in Vietnam during 17 - 22 July 2022. The objective of this visit was to discuss the prospects of QA direction, share recent updates on QA development in the ASEAN region, and discuss further on possible collaboration in Viet Nam.

13th AUN Rectors’ Meeting: Singapore Management University’s Approaches towards Interdisciplinary Education and Research

Prof. Lily Kong, President of Singapore Management University (SMU) delivered her meaningful speech delving into the second agenda “Interdisciplinarity and the Future of ASEAN Higher Education” and explained the SMU’s approaches towards interdisciplinary education and research which deliberately pave the ways for young people to make significant impacts and stipulate the work of universities to improve the lives and livelihoods of local and global communities.

13th AUN Rectors' Meeting: ASEAN Master in Sustainability Management Drives Exceptional Study Programme and Mobility

Dr. Rocky Adiguna introduced an innovative study program and mobility that envisions ASEAN's future leaders through an MBA in sustainability management: the ASEAN Master in Sustainability Management. It is a well-designed master’s programme, established through the collaboration and shared leadership of AUN-BE and the University of Agder (UiA), Norway, aiming to develop competent candidates for key positions in government and business who can lead economic development toward environmental sustainability.

13th AUN Rectors’ Meeting: The Healthy University Rating System, A Road Towards Health Promoting Universities

At the 13th Rectors’ Meeting, Prof. Dr. Chartchalerm Isarankura-Na-Ayudhya presented the Healthy University Rating System (HURS), an instrument of the ASEAN University Network-Health Promotion Network (AUN-HPN). HURS is an assessment and monitoring tool used to track the progress and success of universities’ healthy status, as well as assist them in creating and implementing a "whole university" approach to a health promoting university.

13th AUN Rectors’ Meeting: UI GreenMetrics, The Ranking System that Propels University Healthiness and Sustainability with Competition and Cooperation

Dr. Agustin Kusumayati, M.Sc., Ph.D. presented the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking, a system where Universities are ranked based on how well they promote healthiness, as well as how “green” or sustainable the entire institution is. Such a ranking system drives competition within universities and gives motivation to keep improving infrastructure quality. It also leads to cooperation because at the heart of it all, competition or not, universities are working together to see the quality of living improve for all people around the world. The best of the best Universities do not rest at only providing education to the people. They strive to provide more benefits to society beyond just teaching.
